Douglas A. Perry
Born: September 15, 1947
On September 6, 1978, while handling
an accident which had occurred on the Lewis and Clark viaduct (I-70 at the
Kansas/Missouri state line), Officer Perry was struck by a truck and killed.

David J. Inlow
Born: December 5, 1942
In the early morning hours of May 25,
1980, Officer Inlow was patroling his area when he noticed some unusual
activity at an all-night service station at 3737 East 31st Street. Upon closer
examination, he realized that there was a robbery in progress and attempted to
stop it. In the next few minutes, he was involved in a fierce gun battle, during
which he received mortal wounds but was still able to return fire.

Phillip A. Miller
Born: July 3, 1956
On December 12, 1983 Officer Miller was dispatched
with another officer to a reported intrusion alarm at the Westport High School,
39th and Oak. Upon his arrival, he spotted a burglar leaving the area and gave
chase before his backup could arrive. After a brief footchase, the officer
apparently became involved in a fight with the suspect, at which time he was
disarmed and shot with his own service revolver. The suspect escaped but was
apprehended a short time later. Approximately one year later, the officer's gun
was recovered, and the suspect charged. Officer Miller died of his wounds on
December 13, 1983.

Robert M. Watts
Born: October 2, 1948
On November 15, 1990 at approximately
11:00 a.m., three Kansas City Missouri Police Officers were called to assist the
fire department to evacuate a burning and occupied apartment building. Sergeant
Watts heard the call and volunteered to help.
While riding his police motorcycle, red lights flashing and siren activated,
he collided with a car, on 9 Highway and Briarcliff. Prosecutors say the driver
was attempting to make a U-turn on the highway, and a grand jury indicted the
man on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Sergeant Bob Watts did not have to respond to the emergency call, but did
anyway. During his 19 years on the department he had received 43 letters of
commendation.

Stephen Allen Faulkner
Born: February 21, 1957
On Tuesday, December 1, 1992 at 8:51
p.m. Police Officer Stephen Faulkner who was serving as a Spotter and Sergeant Jack Shepley, Pilot, had been in the air for
about 20 minutes when they were dispatched to assist other officers who were
involved in a foot chase with suspects. On their way to the call, Officer
Faulkner radioed an emergency to the dispatcher that they were going down near
23rd and Topping. That was the last radio contact made with the officers. The
dispatcher sent emergency equipment to the location, but unfortunately the
helicopter was in flames and the two officers were killed in the crash.
