The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is recognized as one of the most progressive police departments in the country. Community Oriented Policing is utilized by patrol officers assigned to Community Actions Teams (CAT) and Community Actions Networks (CAN). These officers work with citizens to find solutions to neighborhood problems. The Department is comprised of approximately 1400 dedicated law enforcement officers supported and assisted by approximately 700 equally committed civilian employees. Police officers have unlimited opportunities to learn different aspects of law enforcement from Investigations, Canine, Helicopter, Traffic and Tactical Response operations.

 

 

Kansas City is centrally located and has one of the lowest cost of living of all major U.S. cities. The area consistently ranks below the national average in cost of housing, transportation, food and utilities. The Department is responsible for policing 322 square miles in four counties that have a daytime population of more than 800,000 people.

Kansas City Missouri is home to the Kansas City Chiefs football team, Brigade Arena football team, the Kansas City Royals baseball team, Kansas City T-Bones baseball team, the Kansas City Zoo and Union Station. The area also has the Kansas Speedway and the Woodlands race track.

 

Kansas City is known for its Bar-B-Que, the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District and the adjacent Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Kansas City, Missouri Police Department works hard to improve their city. A new officer receives six months of training at the Departments Regional Training Academy. After the Academy training, new officers receive their police officer commission. The new officer must now complete a six-month probationary period of which the first ten weeks are spent with a Field Training Officer.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is accepting applications from those who are seeking a rewarding career in law enforcement.
