The Central Patrol Division of the Kansas City
Missouri Police Department is the smallest geographically of the uniform patrol
division stations in Kansas City. It's boundaries are the Missouri River on the
North (to include the Charles Wheeler Downtown Airport), 47th Street to the
South, State Line to the West, and Wabash on the East. Central Patrol
encompasses 19.7 square miles, and has a permanent population of nearly 73,000

In addition to these locations, Central Patrol
Division also contains a majority of the City, State, and Federal government
operations located in the Kansas City area.
Central Patrol Division is staffed by sworn and
civilian personnel. Since the operations of the Police Department are 24 hours
a day, these personnel are divided into three shifts or "Watches". Most patrol
officers work 10-hour shifts, while most administrative personnel and civilian
personnel work 8-hour shifts.
