3-year-old pedestrian killed in crash identified, investigation continues

The young victim in yesterday's fatal pedestrian crash has been identified as Jayden Courtney, a black male whose date of birth was 09/18/2015, of Kansas City, Missouri.

As in any fatal crash, the investigation will take some time.  Accident investigators will be completing reconstruction, detectives will complete witness interviews, gather any photo/video evidence, and examine all evidence present at the scene. The summary of their findings are then submitted to the Jackson County Prosecutors office for determination of any possible criminal wrongdoing. In a case like this detectives want to be thorough first and foremost, which can take some time.  We think it is worth taking all the time necessary to get all the details correctly to get a clear picture of what led up to the crash.
