Exploring Law Enforcement

KCPD Explorer Post 8600 is open to youth ages 14-20 interested in careers in law enforcement. Working alongside veteran police officers, our youth Explorers meet twice a month with hands-on activities like field trips, special guests, behind-the-scenes tours, and basic training in police tactics. This is a partnership with Boy Scouts Heart of America Council. It is open to young women and men.

Explorers also have the opportunity to assist KCPD officers in the field with crowd control duties at events like the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Plaza Art Fair, Plaza Lighting, and more.

The group meets at our South Patrol Division Annex Building, 9701 Marion Park Dr. If you or your child would like to get involved, e-mail or call 816-325-0170.
