The members of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department are very grateful for the support of the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses and individuals, who themselves are facing a tough situation, have stepped up in amazing ways to help KCPD during these difficult times. More are coming forward every day. Here are just a few of the things that have been provided to police and by whom:

Sanitizing Supplies

CBD American Shaman and J. Reiger & Co. have provided us with gallons and gallons of hand sanitizer that will help keep our employees safe and healthy in the hundreds of interactions they have every day with the people of Kansas City. Our Crime Lab scientists also are making sanitizer, with the help from businesses like Cargill Biodiesel, Arrowhead Scientific and Hy-Vee.

Personal Protective Equipment

Police asked for donations of masks, and the community has been so generous! Organizations like Seton Center Dental Services and Midland Radio have donated hundreds of masks at a time. Individuals have hand-sewn them and brought them to patrol stations.

Health Items

KCPD also asked for donations of temporal scanner thermometers. Thank you to all of the individuals who have provided these, as well as Target. Police will use these to ensure officers are healthy and to screen arrestees coming into detention.

Food

Police have felt exceptionally cared for by all of the restaurants who have provided delicious, free food for employees from officers to dispatchers. Some of these include Chicken ‘N Pickle and Jason’s Deli. Additionally, Harvesters worked with KCPD social service workers, officers and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #99 to help provide “emergency boxes” of food to families who need help during this difficult time.

It would be impossible to list everyone who has come forward to assist KCPD amid this unprecedented situation, but know that every act of support is helping officers complete their mission of serving and protecting Kansas City with professionalism and integrity.
