If you’re buying and selling goods in person after meeting online, we encourage you to do so at one of our police stations.

KCPD detectives are working an increased number of armed robberies stemming from online meet-ups. This follows two years of this crime barely being reported to us.

Cell phones are popular items bought & sold. Recently, a suspect carjacked a victim trying to sell a car. This crime happens outside hotels, in grocery store parking lots, and other public places. Buyers and sellers should be aware that anyone who is unwilling to meet at a police station for the transaction may have ulterior motives and could be unsafe.

We have Internet Exchange Areas at all six patrol stations.
