At a news conference on April 11, KCPD announced that its Missing Persons Section, reconfigured a year ago, is coming back effective Sunday, April 16.

This Section will consist of seven detectives and one sergeant solely dedicated to finding missing persons, including runaways. Major Leslie Foreman of the Violent Crimes Division explained today that this will also allow detectives outside of Missing Persons to exclusively focus on their assigned crimes such as sexual assaults, homicides, and juvenile-related offenses.

Chief Stacey Graves revived the Missing Persons Section after listening to the community’s concerns, stating it’s a priority to address these worries. As it did when it introduced social workers, KCPD will continue to adapt to better serve Kansas City.
