Police Explorers Post 8600

Exploring Law Enforcement

KCPD Explorer Post 8600 is open to youth ages 14-20 interested in learning about law enforcement and public service. Working alongside veteran police officers, our youth Explorers meet twice a month with hands-on activities like field trips, special guests, behind-the-scenes tours, and basic training in police tactics. More than anything else, Explorers develop leadership skills, an understanding of responsibility and a heart for community service they will take with them into adulthood.

Explorers also have the opportunity to assist KCPD officers in the field with crowd control duties at events like the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Plaza Art Fair, Plaza Lighting, and more.

The group meets every other Monday from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Police Athletic League of Kansas City (PAL), 1801 White Avenue in Kansas City, MO. If you would like to get involved, e-mail us or call 816-325-0170 to arrange to visit an upcoming meeting. We would love to meet you!

The cost to become a member is only $45 per year, which includes a uniform shirt and incidental expenses.
