The Homicide Unit investigates all reported cases of deaths, including homicides, suicides, casualties, and natural deaths in Kansas City, Mo. The unit is dedicated to the compassionate and fair treatment of all victims and their families during the course of investigation, and ensures they are made aware of any available victim assistance, including financial and psychological counseling resources.
Cold Case detectives investigate unsolved homicides that occurred within Kansas City, Mo., more than three years ago. These detectives examine homicides that are not being investigated by current homicide squad members.
The Assault Squad investigates aggravated and non-aggravated assaults that occur within Kansas City, Mo. Assault Squad detectives will investigate all assaults involving serious injury and municipal cases where a suspect is not known.
Homicide Unit detectives provide victims and victims’ families as much information (without jeopardizing the investigation) as soon as possible, and keep them up to date throughout the investigation.
We appreciate witnesses coming forward and providing statements. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will continue to investigate these and other homicides until the suspects are identified, caught, and the cases are brought to the appropriate prosecutor’s offices.
